New Story Excerpt - 'Five Bucks'

Here's an excerpt from the new story I'm working on called 'Five Bucks'. It's kind of consuming my brain right now and I'm trying to both get it done as quickly as I can, and take my time to do as good a job on it as possible. It's kind of dark, but will have some humour and of course, the ever-present romance that always seems to find its way into my tales. Anyway here's the little tag for 'Five Bucks'.

The next morning Blake woke up stiff and sore, her fingers and toes were so numb she was afraid they were frost-bitten. She slowly eased her way up off of the ground and shuffled out of the alley towards the main street. Her head was aching from the emotions that seemed to be flowing back and forth between dire despair and an elation that just made her want to sing loudly and dance on the street. Knocking her head against the brick wall beside her a few times she stepped out of the alley into the bright morning light. Blake wandered around for a little while until her blood felt warm enough that it wasn’t sticking in her veins anymore, so she found her way back to the pawn shop where she’d been the previous day. She figured if she was going to be giving five dollar blow jobs that was as good a place as any as it had a small cubby off to the side where she could conceal what she was doing if she got any takers.
